Paul Delahunty, Information Security Officer, speaks to the Irish Mirror about recent scams that Irish people have fallen victim to and what they can do to avoid them. Paul advises people who receive a suspicious call, email or text to take a step back and consider whether it is legitimate.
He points out that scams usually use urgent language to compel victims to engage with them. However, using common sense and asking whether what is being asked or communicated makes sense can prevent both individuals and organisations from falling victim to what are becoming more and more sophisticated attacks.
